Shipping and Exporting Explained
At 8 Degrees South, we primarily operate under an EXW (Ex Works) model.
This means that as our client, you're responsible for transportation costs and risks once the goods leave our premises.
Although shipping services aren't our standard offering, we're equipped to arrange shipping on your behalf, tailoring the service to meet your specific needs. This includes communicating any additional terms and costs upfront.
We're more than just a supplier; we're your strategic partner in navigating the complexities of international shipping.
Our expertise allows us to guide you through the documentation required for a smooth export process, ensuring everything complies with legal standards. Consider us your representative in the shipping industry, committed to overseeing every detail with the highest level of care and professionalism, leveraging our extensive experience in successful deliveries to various countries.

SVLK or V-Legal Documentation: Verifies the legality of wood products.
Customs Documentation:
The complete set of documents required for the export process.
Certificate of Origin:
Confirms the goods' country of origin, a key document for international trade
Commercial Invoice: Provides the value of your goods to customs, crucial for determining duties.

Cubic Volume Explained
When considering an order with us, it’s important to understand how much stock can fit inside a shipping container and how to ensure your order meets our minimum requirements. Our catalogue, which can be requested via the form below, will guide you through the ordering process. We work with containers in three sizes: 20ft (33 cubes), 40ft (68 cubes), and 40ft HC (76 cubes), ensuring flexibility for your shipment needs.
20ft = 33 cubes
40ft = 72 cubes
40ft HC = 76 cubes
Unpacking Explained
We want to make the unpacking process as smooth as possible for you. Typically, it only takes a few hours to unload your container, and in most cases, you won't need forklifts or special equipment—unless your shipment contains heavy items like stone products or if you specifically asked for pallets. To give you a better understanding of what to expect, we've created a video showing our team unloading a container. This visual guide demonstrates how simple the unpacking process is and provides tips on how to efficiently manage your own shipment when it arrives. Watch this video to see how easy it is to receive your container.
Estimated Freight Costs
It's important to note that these freight rates are subject to weekly changes, potentially increasing or decreasing based on market conditions. We take pride in ensuring that there is NO MARKUP on these costs; customers pay exactly what the shipping liner charges. This commitment to fairness means that we diligently shop around for the cheapest, fastest, and most reliable freight rate available at the time of manufacturing, ensuring you receive the best possible deal.

Your Order's Journey
At 8 Degrees South, our dedication to crafting exquisite handcrafted furniture is palpable in every distinct piece we produce, reflecting an unrivaled level of artistry and craftsmanship. Our wooden items radiate a natural beauty, distinguished by their inherent capacity to adapt to environmental shifts. This natural adaptability—expanding and contracting with changes in humidity—is a feature of their organic essence, rather than a flaw.

In safeguarding your purchase during its journey, we utilize robust packing techniques. This includes the use of moisture-resistant wraps and carefully selected materials that absorb humidity, designed to protect against the climatic variations encountered during transit. While the intrinsic nature of wood means it interacts with its environment, causing some environmental effects during shipping to be inevitable, we advise considering shipping insurance. This proactive measure can help guard against the challenges posed by moisture, enhancing the protection of your valued acquisition.

While we are committed to excellence in all we do, Eight Degrees South cannot provide refunds or replacements for natural changes or the impacts of transit on our products. Our philosophy celebrates the genuine beauty and integrity of natural materials. We ensure that every piece not only enchants but also conveys a profound sense of authenticity and character.

Client-Organized Freight:
Our Collaborative Approach
In the event that you prefer to arrange your own freight, we fully support your choice and welcome you to do so. However, it's important to note that the local cargo company, along with our dedicated 8 Degrees South team, will still manage the collection, packing, and container stuffing process. This policy is in place to ensure that we maintain control over how the goods are shipped and guarantee that they receive the utmost care during packing. Unfortunately, clients cannot arrange these specific steps themselves, as this could impact the quality and integrity of the shipment. Rest assured, our expert handling is designed to protect your investment and ensure your goods arrive in perfect condition.
