Seamless Shipping, Every Step with You

Eight Degrees South operates primarily on an EXW (Ex Works) basis. This means clients are responsible for all transportation costs and risks from our premises. While we do not typically offer shipping services, we do arrange shipping on behalf of the client. This arrangement is subject to additional terms and costs, which will be communicated at the time of the request. While Eight Degrees South does not directly provide shipping or documentation services, we leverage our expertise to guide our clients in obtaining the necessary documentation for smooth export processes and legal compliance. Our team prides itself on effectively acting as your proxy, handling all aspects of the shipping process as if we were the client ourselves. With a wealth of experience in successfully shipping to numerous countries, we have honed our skills to ensure your cargo is handled with the highest level of professionalism and care.

Our comprehensive management services include, but are not limited to:

  • Certificate of Origin: A vital document in certain countries, certifying the export item's country of origin.

  • Ocean Bill of Lading (B/L): Acts as both a receipt for in-transit cargo and a contractual agreement with the ocean carrier for transporting and delivering goods. It is issued once the cargo is on board and listed in the ship’s manifest.

  • Commercial Invoice: A detailed bill from the seller to the buyer, crucial for customs to ascertain the goods' value for duty purposes.

  • Packing List: Details the contents of each package, including the type and quantity, facilitating the handling of shipments.

  • Cargo Insurance Certificate: Provides assurance of insurance coverage against loss or damage during transit.

  • Export Licenses and Certificates: Depending on the nature of the goods, this may include licenses for garments, health or sanitary certificates, quarantine certificates, fumigation certificates, etc.

  • SVLK or V-Legal Documentation: Certificates verifying the legality of wood products, essential in some countries to ease the customs process.

  • Customs Documentation: All necessary paperwork required by customs for the export process.

At Eight Degrees South, we specialize in exquisite handcrafted furniture, each piece a testament to unique artistry and exceptional craftsmanship.

It's important to recognize that the beauty of our wooden products lies in their natural character, which can include the wood's tendency to expand and contract in response to changes in humidity. This is not a flaw, but rather a natural aspect of wooden products 'breathing' and adjusting to their environment. While we implement meticulous packing strategies, including the use of well-ventilated containers and moisture-absorbing materials, to safeguard your purchase during transit, certain changes due to environmental conditions are inevitable. Factors like fluctuating humidity levels can impact the wood during shipping. Although we do our utmost to minimize moisture-related damage, we advise our clients to consider shipping insurance as an additional safeguard.

Please note, however, that Eight Degrees South cannot offer refunds or replacements for natural changes or damages that occur in transit. Our commitment to using natural, high-quality materials means embracing these characteristics, ensuring that each piece not only reflects beauty but also the authenticity of the materials used.

Here are the steps your product undergoes before reaching you

Cargo Collects

When your order is complete, we will arrange for Cargo to collect it. Cargo's trucks will pick up your order and transport it to their warehouse. We conduct a final quality control (QC) inspection with Cargo's staff present to ensure everything is in perfect condition

Fumigation

We employ a government-approved fumigation company to treat your goods. After the fumigation process is completed, the container door is securely closed with a sealed lock, which can only be removed using bolt cutters for added security.

Packaging

Cargo wraps your goods in corrugated cardboard offering both protection for the products and efficient utilization of shipping space. By default, your order is not palletised unless you specifically request it. Fragile items are carefully boxed for added security

Road Freight

Your container is transported to the port on the back of a truck.

Payment

Payment of the shipping invoice is required before your container departs from Cargo's warehouse. You have the option to make the payment directly into Cargo's designated bank account or into our business account. Rest assured, we do not add any markup and will facilitate the transfer of funds to Cargo on your behalf

Shipping

The shipping route is determined based on your location, and our primary objective is to expedite the delivery of your container. Shipping times typically range between 4 to 8 weeks.

Certificates

Cargo will handle the export legalities, which include the government inspection, all export documentation, certificates and fumigation.  The shipping company may request your name, contact, address and delivery particulars.

Import Agent

Your dedicated import agent will manage all communication and coordinate the container's delivery.

Stuffing

The empty container arrives at Cargo's warehouse early in the morning. It undergoes a thorough inspection for any damages or holes and is prepared accordingly. We take extra precautions by lining the inside of the container with plastic, corrugated sheets, and dry packs to ensure your goods remain dry and well-protected throughout the shipping process

Unpacking

You'll have a few hours to offload the container, and there's usually no need for a forklift or special machinery unless you have purchased stone goods or specifically requested pallets.

Unpacking Simplified: Watch and Learn

Our goal is to make the unloading process as simple as possible for you. You'll have ample time, typically a few hours, to unpack the container. In most cases, there's no need for a forklift or special machinery unless you've purchased heavy items like stone goods or requested pallets. To help you visualise this process, we've prepared a video featuring our staff unloading a container, which demonstrates what you may encounter when unpacking your own shipment.

We are experts in offering diverse furniture selections, exclusively in full 20-foot or 40-foot container loads. At this time, we do not provide LCL (Less than Container Load) options at our factory pricing rates.
